Did you know?- Every 9.5 minutes someone in the United States becomes infected with HIV- More than 1 million people in the United States are living with HIV- Of those 1 million people living with HIV, 1 out of 5 do not know they are infected- Despite new therapies, people with HIV still develop AIDS- More than 14,000 people with AIDS still die each year in the United States- Nearly 75% of HIV/AIDS diagnoses among adolescents and adults were males*- Blacks/African Americans accounted for over half (51%) of the estimated number of HIV/AIDS diagnoses, followed by whites (29%) and Hispanic/Latinos (18%)*- Persons aged 40-49 accounted for the largest proportion of newly diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases (27%).
